Cajal Academy isn’t just an independent school, we are a fully mission-driven non-profit educational “think tank” dedicated to developing transformative and cost-effective new educational approaches that leverage modern neuroscience to empower kids. Since we opened our doors in 2019, we’ve been redefining what’s possible for the individual kids in our program, for special education and for K-12 education as a whole, with a research-backed approach that is proving successful at reducing or even removing learning and in some cases social-emotional disabilities. Our students’ profiles become less complex over time, empowering kids to go on to mainstream college or K-12 settings, in some cases into a “general education” population—all at less than the cost of alternatives that can’t offer students these opportunities viewed across a 2-3 year time frame. We pass those savings on, with programming costs that may decrease by as much as $30,000 per year!

We are passionate believers in the value of public education and committed to publishing and disseminating our techniques as our program continues to grow. We are also well aware of the funding crisis currently facing our state and the nation, and are committed to being part of the solution. We are currently working with a number of public school districts to develop new models for public-private partnerships that can help us all to move forward, while bringing forward a new educational model that meets the needs of more of the kids in the room.
